Elements of Time

After a friend arriving, a sister departing, and all the other distances continuing, She writes these words:

What is distance, if time cannot bear it?
And what is time, if hope cannot endure it?
And what is hope, if distance outlasts it?

If distance is just a never-ending horizon, or the whisp of space between slipping fingers
How are miles apart survived?
If time, is simply the absence of a dream; the lapse between now and then
                                    How are years spent separated?
And if hope is solely the proof of brokenness
How can there be any expectation of reuniting?

Who would dare test the elements of time?
Indeed, not many
But there are those that dare to love

Love is not feeble; it is long-suffering and withstands each distant
for charity beareth all things
Love is the diligence of reality tried; the commitment between now and then
for charity endureth all things
And love is the sacrifice to believe the unknown; to hope in that which does not disappoint
                                                for charity hopeth all things

Time may indeed fail the distance, but charity never faileth
Yea, hope may fail time, but charity never faileth
Surely, distance may fail hope, but charity never faileth
